Our Australian President has been elected as one of four Vice Presidents of the International Federation of Apitherapy at its virtual congress at the weekend.
Dr Bridget Goodwin has been elected as a Vice President of the IFA and has also been appointed to represent the Oceania region in what the IFA has called an attempt to better reach countries that are not yet embracing Apitherapy as medicine.
“It is a great honour to be appointed to the IFA,” Dr Goodwin said.
“It will hopefully be a step forward in helping bring Australia and surrounding countries closer to the powerful network that is the International Federation of Apitherapy.”
“The IFA have been tremendously supportive of our fledgling Australian Association since its inception in 2020 and we look forward to be able to harness the incredible skills and knowledge contained within this extraordinary multi-racial and multi-skilled network.”

The noted Apitherapy specialist Dr Stefan Stangaciu has been elected President of the IFA. Dr Stefan was the guest of our Association in 2023 when we brought him to Australia to run a workshop. he and the outgoing President, Dr Ali Timocin Atayaglu, have been strong supporters of Australia’s efforts to raise awarness about the powerful medicine that is Apitherapy.
The IFA is made up of many noted scientists, academics, medical doctors, veterinarians, dentists, researchers and innovative beekeepers.
Dr Goodwin said it was important for nations that do not yet embrace Apitherapy in their medical systems to get to know the extraordinary scientific evidence being published by international researchers constantly.
“Bee products are ancient, but modern science is increasingly discovering new knowledge about just how potent they are in their healing powers.”
Dr Goodwin said the IFA had set up several specialist commissions to expand knowledge and promote Apitherapy. These include through education, microbiology, and new innovations in medicine and dentistry. Apitourism, the practise of visiting apiaries for health-giving beehive air and accommodation treatments, is also represented in the IFA as an expanding and popular practice in many countries.
